Washington Savings Bank launches new unit

Mortgage brokers will soon have a new wholesale lender with the launch of a new unit by a Washington, D.C.-area bank.

The Washington Savings Bank announced it has hired an executive to create a wholesale lending operation for the company and oversee the retail mortgage banking business.

Susan L. Grant was hired as senior vice president and "brings to the bank extensive and diverse expertise in mortgage banking," the Bowie, Md.-based bank said, noting her resume includes retail and wholesale lending experience at Royal Bank of Canada, nBank and New America Financial Inc.

Washington Savings' product menu includes conventional, FHA, VA, second trust deeds and construction loans, according to its Web site.
