A California technology firm says its Web-based mortgage software interfaces with existing mortgage origination software from other companies. But the service isn't the only one of its kind.
Access Business Technologies recently announced the release of MortgageDesktop 7.0 and MortgageExchange 7.0, technology coordinated by a hosting product called Powercore.
The Sacramento-based company's CEO Justin Kirsch told MortgageDaily.com that the Desktop product can interface with Calyx Software, Byte, and Intrac, and offers an online servicing platform for midsize servicers. The hosting environment, he said, provides the platform for "a mobile remote desktop" allowing for mortgage processing and servicing tasks to be accessed on the Internet from anywhere.
Calyx's Vice President of Business Development Dennis Boggs told MortgageDaily.com that while Access can host its mortgage origination software Point, Calyx offers its own hosting unit for Point called Point Data Server that stores loan files in a central data base and can be accessed from anywhere via the Internet.
Access says its new technology handles business-to-business vendor and partner-related tasks such as ordering title, flood, appraisers, as well as, wholesaler information and other secondary marketing issues.
This type of system provides a network for colleagues at net branches and lender offices to share data, Kirsh said. It also automatically updates and does not require backups or IT staff to maintain it, he added.
"Think of it as an extension of your back office IT," Kirsch explained. "Instead of having it there, we provide all the software and utilities for you."
As an added security benefit, he noted that mortgage data does not sit on the personal computer so in the event of a theft, the customer's personal information is not at-risk.
Ellie Mae Chief Technology Officer Limin Hu told MortgageDaily.com that Ellie Mae also offers Web-based mortgage software and solutions all-in-one package called Encompass Anywhere that launched last March. "Encompass Anywhere is a complete end-to-end mortgage automation system that allows the user access from anywhere," he said in an email.
Although the Encompass Anywhere does not support hosting of other software programs like Access's Powercore, Hu said it is "a 'software as a service' mortgage origination solution by itself."
