SBC sets up website to assist movers, buyers

Monstermoving.com and SBC Communications have partnered in developing a new website aimed at assisting movers in the often frustrating process of picking up and settling down.

In addition to information about utilities, online communications, and insurance, the site offers a mortgage calculator and other information about the process.

"With a few clicks of a mouse, busy consumers can quickly get online to book electricity or gas services, set up local, long distance and wireless phone services, as well as Internet service in their new homes - all at their convenience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Ty Robertson, director, SBC E-Channel, in a press release about the new website.

The site offers a "mortgage glossary" with more than a hundred common industry terms clearly explained for the unfamiliar borrower.

Mortgage quotes are also available, according to the press release.

On the site, there is a questionnaire that asks for very general information regarding the needed mortgage loan. When all the information is submitted, the site provides the names of a few lenders in the desired area and says that the potential borrower will be contacted regarding details.

The site also offers moving announcements, information about storage facilities and packing, and many other factors involved in the process of relocating.
