ABN AMRO Mortgage Group Inc. has a new chief executive.
Thomas Goldstein has been appointed ABN AMRO's chairman, president and CEO, parent company LaSalle Bank Corp. announced Wednesday. He assumes responsibility for the company's mortgage and home equity lines of business.
Goldstein was promoted from his position as senior executive vice president and chief financial officer. As chairman, he succeeds Scott K. Heitmann, who announced his retirement effective April 1 earlier this month. Goldstein replaces former ABN AMRO president Stanley Rhodes, who will assume the position of vice chairman.
In this new role, Goldstein will continue as a member of LaSalle's executive committee and still report to Norman Bobins.
Goldstein's background includes stints at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Manufacturers Hanover, the company said.
Bobins noted in the announcement that Goldstein's "experience and tenure in the financial services industry and as CFO of LaSalle Bank Corporation will be instrumental in growing [ABN AMRO's] customer base and in expanding its market coverage."
