Citigroup will boost servicing staff in Ohio by over 40 percent within the next four months.
The New York-based company's cards subsidiary announced it will begin expanding its Columbus customer-payment location this month -- a move that will accommodate up to 250 new hires by October.
The expanded facility will process payments and print and mail statements for Citigroup's cards business, and for its subprime and prime mortgage lending subsidiaries, CitiFinancial and CitiMortgage.
"The services these employees will handle triple our current payment volume and substantially increase our statement volume as well," said facility President Gary Herzfeld in the announcement. The expansion represents Citigroup's core competency "to grow in a cost-efficient and customer-focused way."
Citigroup reported its $288.8 billion third party mortgage servicing portfolio at the end of the first quarter had decreased from the fourth quarter.
The new hires will push the Columbus site's staff number to about 600.
